Advertising Techniques - Personification
Personification is bringing an inanimate object, the product in this case, to life giving it human qualities or making a abstract idea in to a character such as hunger. This techniques makes the ad more interesting and the audience will be more engaged to the product as it has human abilities.
This advert uses personification by giving the product human features and abilities. This also adds humour to the advert as its impossible for this to happen. The personification in the ad the audience can relate to as they are iconic figures for the product and everyone knows them, this also helps the audience to remember the product as its different and interesting.

Advertising Techniques - Exaggeration
Exaggeration is when an advertisement is basic idea of a product but exaggerate the benefit, exaggerate a problem or exaggerate the size and physical appearance. the idea is to overly exaggerate that it seems impossible and interesting because if you use a small exaggeration the advertising of the product could just seem misleading.
This advert is a form of exaggeration as it shows and exaggeration of how good the product is as they burnt the toast so they're all devastated and crying over it. this is an exaggeration because it wouldnt happen in real life if you burn the toast yourself. this would attract the audience to buy the product as they think its such a good product.

Advertising Techniques - Emotion/Nurture
Emotional/Nurture technique is used when the ad wants to make the audience feel a specific emotion such as happiness, sadness, anger or love etc. and also appeals to parental and maternal instincts. they do this by using music that relates to a certain emotion or visual imagery that are know to relate to emotion such as weddings, babies and animals.
This Evian ad is an example of the emotional technique as it uses babies in the ad to create the feeling of happiness with the audience and to make them laugh. therefor the advertisement is making the audience feel a specific emotion. Advertising Techniques - Dramatic Conflict
Dramatic conflict can be used to grab the attention of the audience and heighten the interest of the message they are trying to convey. for example this dramatic conflict can be between a man and women, a mum and her child or a teenager vs. their conscience etc.

Advertising Techniques - Benefit
This technique is used when the advertisement is showing a promise of benefit to the consumer if they use the product. The advertisement will show or tell the audience the benefits and most likely exaggerate them. Generally the advert will portray a positive, persuasive energy to show importance on the product and its benefit/s. The benefits in the advertisements won't always be competitive advantages they may be such things as a lifetime guarantee on the product.
This ad is an example of promise of benefit. This ad grabs the audiences attention by using good looking women. The advert answers the question what 'will this product do for me?' by telling us about the crisp throughout the discussion involved in the advertisement. The advertisement also tells us how these Kettle Chips are better than any other crisp as they are 'slow cooked' and have a 'richer taste' this adds to the benefits of the product. The target audience for this product is both women and men, it will attract women because they will see slim beautiful women eating the product so the audience will think they can eat these crisp and still look good. also the male audience will be attracted by the women in bikinis and the fact they are advertising crisps that seem better than any others.

Codes and Conventions - Technical
For the codes and conventions I am going to analyse the Warburtons Bread 'Burnt Loaf' advert and the Kellog's Frosties 'High Dive' advert.
The camera shots and angles that are used in this advertisement are mostly close ups, to show the facial reactions from the characters, and long shots to establish the scene and show the surroundings. The editing in this ad involves cuts and slow motion to create dramatic tension. The lighting in this advertisement is natural throughout the advertisement to make this situation seem more realistic. The sound used with in the advertisement is a recognisable piece of music which has featured in movies before as its very dramatic especially in relation to this advert. It definitely adds a lot of drama and tension into the ad. the only other sound in the advertisement is a man crying out "No!" however its in slow motion so its a deep sound which also adds drama as i said before. The target audience for this advertisement i think is more adults that would tend to go shopping for the household. The drama which can also be seen as slight humour and sarcasm therefore attracting a wider audience. There are no CGI or special effects in this advertisement this is to create the realistic situation again.
This advertisement is fully CGI and uses humour therefore it is suitable and will attract the audience it wants to. The main target audience is young children which will be attracted to the animation and the iconic figure Tony the Tiger which everyone relates with Kellog's Frosties. The humour involved in the advertisement is there to make the advert more fun for the children and make it seem as if they are watching a real cartoon. The sound in this ad is mainly musical sound effects to go along with the cartoon and the obvious slogan 'There Great!' which is the recognisable iconic catch phrase to go with the cereal.
